AAbout Tara Gold AG
Who is Tara Gold AG?
Tara Gold AG is a Swiss company limited by shares (Aktiengesellschaft), with its registered office at Sennweidstrasse 45, 6312 Steinhausen, Canton Zug. It was entered in the commercial register of the Canton of Zug on 6 August 2026 (UID CHE-415.829.802) and has a fully paid share capital of CHF 100,000.
Our business is selling physical gold bullion to clients and holding it in custody for them, in our custodian’s vaults in Switzerland.
Who do you work with?
High-net-worth individuals, family offices and companies in Switzerland, the European Union and the United Kingdom. We do not serve retail clients, we do not currently accept US persons, and we do no cash business.
What is your minimum?
Our minimum for the first purchase and holding is CHF, EUR, GBP or USD 300,000. Follow-on purchases are possible from 100,000 in the same currencies.
Allocated, segregated custody in a Swiss high-security vault carries fixed costs per client, and our service is built around a personal relationship with each client. Below this level, storage costs would weigh heavily on the value of the holding. We would rather say so plainly than accept business that does not serve the client well.
Are you taking on new clients now?
Not yet. Tara Gold AG is in its start-up phase. We are preparing our affiliation with VQF and will enter into client relationships subject to the Swiss Anti-Money Laundering Act only once that affiliation is in place.
We are glad to hear from prospective clients in the meantime, and will contact them when accounts open.
Is Tara Gold AG a bank? How is it regulated?
Tara Gold AG is not a bank and holds no authorisation from FINMA. Asset management, and any activity requiring a banking or FINMA licence, is excluded by its registered purpose.
The client relationships in our intended business are subject to the Swiss Anti-Money Laundering Act. We are therefore preparing our affiliation with VQF, a self-regulatory organisation recognised by FINMA, which will supervise Tara Gold AG for anti-money-laundering purposes once we are affiliated.
Do you give investment, legal or tax advice?
No. We explain how our service works and what it costs. Whether physical gold suits you, and in what amount, is your decision. For legal and tax questions we recommend independent advice.
Who is behind Tara Gold AG?
Adele O’Byrne is President of the Board of Directors.
Mark O’Byrne is Managing Director and a Member of the Board of Directors, with more than 20 years in the precious metals market. He founded GoldCore, a precious metals dealer and custody provider, in Dublin in 2003 and led it until 2020. In that time it handled more than EUR 1 billion in client transactions, and it held about EUR 185 million of client assets in storage when he left.
Oliver Krause is Chief Operating Officer, with around two decades in financial services and in group reporting for a mining and smelting group.
Authority to sign for Tara Gold AG comes only from the commercial register or from a specific power of attorney.
BThe metal
What do you sell, and where does it come from?
Physical gold: LBMA Good Delivery bars and, on request, bullion coins. We buy them in our own name from Swiss refiners on the LBMA Good Delivery List and from established wholesalers, and sell them on to you. All gold is delivered and stored in Switzerland.
We do not source from mines, from artisanal miners or from unaccredited sources, and our sourcing follows the LBMA Responsible Gold Guidance.
Is each bar individually identified?
Yes. Every bar from a refiner on the LBMA Good Delivery List carries its own serial number and is stamped with the refiner’s mark, its weight and its fineness.
Those details will be listed on the statement we issue to you, so that each bar you own can be identified individually.
COwnership
What proves that the gold is mine?
There is no “certificate of title” for gold in the sense of a land register, and we would be cautious of anyone who offers one.
Your ownership rests on our client agreement, under which your bars are held in safekeeping for you; title passes to you when the bars are allocated to your sub-account. It is evidenced by the purchase invoice identifying the bars by serial number, and by the statement we issue to you listing the same bars.
What is the difference between allocated, unallocated and pooled storage?
With unallocated storage you hold a claim to a quantity of gold rather than specific bars; in an insolvency, that is usually an ordinary claim. With pooled storage, your gold is part of a common stock held together with other investors’ gold.
With allocated and segregated storage, specific bars are allocated to you on a sub-account kept for you alone, apart from the custodian’s own metal and from other clients’ holdings. Our service is built on allocated, segregated storage only.
Does client gold appear on Tara Gold AG’s balance sheet?
No. Client metal is held in safekeeping for the client and is the client’s asset, not Tara Gold AG’s, so it does not appear on Tara Gold AG’s balance sheet. Tara Gold AG keeps its own trading stock separately, on a sub-account of its own.
Is client metal ever lent, leased or pledged?
Tara Gold AG never lends, leases or pledges client metal for its own obligations, and client metal is never part of the collateral for any financing of Tara Gold AG. Any pledge Tara Gold AG grants can only concern metal it owns itself.
DCustody and verification
Where will my gold be stored?
In our custodian’s vaults in Switzerland, operated by a specialist precious metals custodian that is an LBMA Full Member. Tara Gold AG has signed a storage agreement and a transport agreement with this custodian.
Who holds the gold: Tara Gold AG or the vault?
Tara Gold AG will act as your custodian, and the vault operator as sub-custodian. Your bars will be held in safekeeping for you, with title remaining yours, on a fully allocated and segregated sub-account kept for you alone within Tara Gold AG’s storage account at the vault. Tara Gold AG’s own stock will be kept on a separate sub-account.
Tara Gold AG is the vault operator’s sole contractual partner. It gives every instruction concerning the metal on two signatures, at least one of them a board member’s, and it will issue your statements. You do not deal with the vault operator directly.
This section will also cover how your holding is confirmed, inspection, insurance and audit.
We will publish these answers once they have been confirmed in writing. Before any commitment, every client will receive the full custody documentation to review, ideally with an independent adviser.
ELegal protection
This section covers what happens to your gold in an insolvency, whether anyone can make a claim on it, and which law applies.
We will publish these answers once they have been confirmed in writing and reviewed by Swiss counsel. Before any commitment, every client will receive the full custody documentation to review, ideally with an independent adviser.
FCosts, buying and selling
What does it cost?
Our charges are made up of:
- a trading margin on each purchase and sale;
- an annual custody and administration fee, charged as a percentage of the value held;
- if you take physical delivery, the cost of transport, insurance and any taxes or duties.
We confirm all charges in writing, in a fee schedule, before you commit.
How do I pay?
By bank transfer only, from an account in your own name, to a dedicated client settlement account of Tara Gold AG in Switzerland. We accept payment only for a confirmed order, hold no client balances beyond settlement and pay no interest.
We do not accept cash, crypto assets or payments from third parties.
How do I sell?
You instruct us, and the sale is executed at the prevailing market price. The proceeds, net of our trading margin, are paid by bank transfer to an account in your own name.
GBecoming a client
How does onboarding work?
Once client accounts are open, onboarding will follow five steps:
- An initial conversation.
- Identification and verification, as required by the Swiss Anti-Money Laundering Act.
- Review of our custody terms and fee schedule, ideally with your own adviser.
- Signature of the client agreement.
- Payment from an account in your own name, accepted only once our compliance review is complete. Your bars are then allocated, and you receive your statement.
What will you ask me for, and why?
Identity documents; for companies and other structures, details of beneficial ownership; and information on the source of your funds and of your wealth. We screen clients and their beneficial owners against the sanctions lists of SECO, the UN, the EU, OFAC and the UK, and for politically exposed persons: at onboarding, at least annually, and again before any delivery, transfer or payment in your favour.
Swiss law requires these checks, and we will carry them out under documented internal processes.
How do I send you documents?
Through a dedicated encrypted channel that we will provide, never by email.
HSecurity and data
Will you ever send payment instructions by email?
No. Tara Gold AG does not send account details or payment instructions by email. If you receive such a request appearing to come from us, verify it by telephone on a previously agreed number before acting on it.
Where is my data held?
Client data is stored only in Switzerland. Sanctions and PEP screening runs through a Zurich-based provider that processes queries in the EU without storing them. Details are in our privacy notice.
